Simon Croonenberg was a son of Isaac Alerxander Croonenberg and Sippora Hekster. He married Elisabeth van der Glas, a daughter of Mozes van der Glas and Esther Berkelo on 12 December 1917 in Amsterdam. They had a daughter, who passed away on 21 March 1931, just 12 years old.
Since August 1938 the couple lived separated at different addresses in Amsterdam.
