Marianne Gompers-Loonstein

Joseph Gompers, born 22 March 1899 in Amsterdam, was a son of Philip Gompers and Rebecca de Haan. He married on 20 January 1921 in Amsterdam Marianne Loonstein, who was born 20 October 1895 in Amsterdam as a daughter of Jacob Loonstein and Naatje Speijer. In early April 1945, prisoners from the Bergen Belsen concentration camp were taken to Theresienstadt. One of the three trains used for this purpose was liberated by the Russion Army near the village of Tröbitz in Brandenburg. Many prisoners did not survive this train journey.
