Berta Rosenblatt-Lustbader

Berta Lustbader was the daughter of Leja Presser and Moiszes Lustbader. Her family moved from Poland to Vienna (Austria). As a young girl, she always went to the Netherlands to convalesce. She stayed with a family in Amsterdam. She met her husband in Vienna, while he was visiting family there. Their two daughters survived the war because they were sent into hiding.

Mijn vader kwam uit Skalat, nu Oekraïne, mijn moeder uit Tarnow in Polen. Beiden kwamen met hun ouders naar Wenen, rond 1918, toen het Habsburgse rijk instortte. Mijn vader werkte 1936 in Amsterdam als goudsmid en juwelier. Op vakantie in Wenen leerde hij mijn moeder kennen en zij trouwden daar. Ze gingen wonen op Ruyschstraat 32 III. Op 16 maart 1938 verhuisden zij naar Ruyschstraat 32 II, waar…

In the early 1930's the Rosenblatt family lived on the top floor of this building. When their first child was born, they moved to the 3rd floor.
