Keetje Schnitzler was the third of the seven children of Samuel and Sara Schnitler, who, as cousins in the 1st degree were married 21 November 1866 in Rotterdam. Bernardus van Klaveren was the ninth child of Joseph van Klaveren from Nieuwpoort (Zuid-Holland) and Pouwelina Elberg (also written sometimes as Pauwelina Elburg) from Dussen. Bernardus was married in Rotterdam on 27 December 1922 to Anna Schnitzler, daughter of Samuel and Sara Schnitzler.
