Fanny Haber was the daughter of Simon Haber, who had died before 1938, and Adele Wachter. She came from Germany on 4 May 1939 and was first housed at the quarantine building in Rotterdam. Later she stayed at a refugee camp at the Oostelijke Handelskade in Amsterdam. On 30 May 1940 she moved in with the Grünbaum family.
