Nathan Bonavang was the son of Liepman Bonavang and Francina Nathans. He married 18 October 1899 in Rotterdam to Roosje Velleman, a daughter fo Salomon Velleman and Lea van der Sluis. The couple had five children, of whom a twin has died in 1900, only a few days old. Their other children were Sientje, Izak en Liepman.
