Michel de Leeuw was a son of Simon de Leeuw and Sientje Hoofien. Michel married in 1901 and had four children. In 1902 the family settled at 57, Schagelaan in Watergraafsemeer.
Michel was registered as a merchant in cattle, but he was the owner of several butcher's shops as well.
