David van Cleef was a son of Isaac van Cleef and Esther Casseres. David van Cleef worked as his father did, in the diamond industry. As well as being a diamond polisher, David van Cleef was also a diamond cutter. Untill 1925, David van Cleef lived in Amsterdam at 46 Joden Houttuinen.
