To prevent the spread of a typhus epidemic, the liberated prisoners were taken to places in Tröbitz and the surrounding districts. Dozens more died in this period, from malnutrition, exhaustion or disease. In total, 600 people who had been transported in this train failed to survive. Large numbers of them were buried in nearby Falkenberg.
