Jacob Stad and Elisabeth Braunberger were married at Westerbork transit camp on 8 October 1942. He was an office clerk. He was a son of bookseller Meijer Stad and of Mietje van der Maas, deceased. She was a daughter of merchant Julius Braunberger and of Esther van Hessen. The parents of the bride attended the marriage ceremony; they signed the marriage certificate.
