Joseph Gompers was a son of Levie Gompers and Anna van Kloeten. He was born on 14 October 1901 in Gouda and he was an electrician, commercial traveller and in Tilburg he was also a vendor at the street market there. He married in Tilburg on 30 October 1928 Paulina Hollander, who was born in Antwerp on 23 September 1905 as a daughter of Abraham Hollander from Antwerp and Anna Maria Catherina Verbue…

Joseph Gompers and his family

Joseph Gompers was married to Paulina Hollander. The couple had two daughters, Anna and Maria Anna Catharina. The family lived at 6 Anna Paulownastraat in Tilburg.

Joseph Gompers was summoned to the labour camp at Nijverdal on 31 July 1942. From there he was transferred to Westerbork on 2 October 1942 and deported to Auschwitz. His wife and daughters were deported via Vught concentration camp.

About Anna Gompers

Anna Gompers was deported to Sobibor in June 1943 from Vught via Westerbork on the so-called children's transport. She was 10 when she died.
