Betje de Goeije was a daughter of Abraham de Goeije and Veronika van der Meusen. Aged 20, she maried the 17 year old Jacob Braadbaart on 2 May 1883 in Dordrecht, a son of Philip Nathan Braadbaart and Saartje Witsteijn.
