Dani Nihom is geboren op 11 oktober 1936 in Nijkerk. Dani was de jongste van vijf kinderen. Joseph werd geboren in 1922, Michael in 1924, Gretha in 1925 en Karel in 1933. Op 14 juli 1938 overleed plotseling vader Benedictus Nihom, 46 jaar oud. Dani verhuisde toen met zijn moeder, Elisabeth Nihom, en de andere kinderen naar Winterswijk, de geboorteplaats van moeder.
