The Boeki family was a well-to-do family with three children. A daughter Hanna did not live at home anymore. Jacob Boeki was a businessman, who among other things built and sold radios. Leentje Berkelouw was a housewife who assisted her husband with his business. The family had mostly contact with other liberal business people. The children were more or less raised by a nanny because the parents were too busy. The family lived in a corner house. The business was located below the living area. The family was not religious, but the friday was still a special day.
