Abraham Prins, son of Salomon Meijer Prins and Esther Kaas, was married to Grietje Levitus. Grietje Levitus was the fifth child in the family of Heiman Levitus and Esther Kosses. Grietje Levitus lived with her parents, sisters and brothers in her birthplace of Bellingwolde until she was 12 and then moved to Winschoten. The family subsequently moved to Amsterdam. She attended the Jewish school on the Rapenburgerstraat.
In Amsterdam Abraham Prins, an odds and ends merchant, met Grietje Levitus. They were married on 25 November 1908. Their chuppah was at the shul on the Rapenburgerstraat. Abraham Prins and Grietje Levitus had eight children: Esther, Hijman, Nathan, Frederika, Sara, Meijer, Liepman and two children who survived the war. The family lived in Amsterdam, first at 13 Joden Houttuinen, and subsequently at 8 Houtkopersdwarsstraat and 146 Valkenburgerstraat.
