Joseph Alfred Josephus Jitta, son of the legal scholar Daniel Josephus Jitta and Carolina Frederika Wertheim, was married to Rosi Fleck, daughter of Otto Fleck and Eveline Sophie Fürth. He was known as Jo. Joseph Alfred Josephus Jitta completed a course in engineering in Mittweida (Germany) and added the title 'w.i.' to his name (for mechanical engineer). Joseph Alfred Josephus Jitta was involved in cultural events. He organized exhibitions and co-founded and served as the first chairman to the Vereniging van Concertgebouwvrienden [concert hall friends association]. He donated two albums of sketches by Simon Vouet, painter to His Majesty Louis XIII, to the Louvre in Paris. Thanks in part to this donation, he was knighted as a Companion of the French Légion d‘Honneur.
