Coenraad Piller had four children. Two with Rebecca Hes and two from a previous marriage with her sister, among whom Judith. His other three children survived the war. In 1941 Coenraad and Rebecca went into hiding in Amsterdam with the parents of their non-Jewish daughter-in-law. According to tradition especially Rebecca was not the ideal person when hiding. She would stick her head out of the window and interfere with life on the streets. That is why they had to move to the Veluwe. They were betrayed there and then transported.
