Izaäk Wessels, son of Nathan Levie Wessels and Carolina de Wit, got married on 25 May 1921 in 's Hertogenbosch to Antje van Dijk, daughter of Francis van Dijk and Clara van Dijk. The couple had three children, of which Nathan Benjamin (nickname Nan) and Benjamin Leo (nickname Ben) did not survive the war. Ben was at school in the state secondary school in Hellevoetsluis. In 1941, he was forced to leave the school. After that, he took the little tram every day to the Jewish secondary school in Rotterdam.
Izaäk Wessels had a small factory making soda extract behind his house. He sold agricultural salt for the prevention of hay burn. The company was dissolved around 1910.
