One of the Halberstam children emigrated to Chile before the war. The family members kept up a lively correspondence, expressing their fears, their hope and their despair. The story of the Halberstam family is told in the book Lieve kinderen (Amsterdam 1998) by I. Wojak and L. Hepner.
