The house of David and Izak Lutraan internally consisted out of three parts, but only had two doors on the outside. Henriëtte and Vrouwtje Lutraan lived in the middle part of the house. On the right of the house there was the butcher's shop, as far as is known the oldest of Raalte. Other butchers had their cattle slaughtered there as well. During the shabbat the Lutraan family asked children-next-door, living behind the butcher's shop, to turn on the light. The Shabbat was also often celebrated by making walks through the village, visiting other Jewish families.
