Daniel Meyer got married to Jeanette Cahn in Höningen on 20 August 1888. The couple lived in Oberwinter where six children were born. In the 1930's the couple and their youngest child Max and his family-in-law moved to Geleen in the Netherlands.

Four other children of Daniel Meyer and Jeanette Cahn died before or during the war: Walter (who died in France in 1914 during the First World War), Rosa (Auschwitz), Mathilde (Minsk) and Karl (who died at a young age in Oberwinter).
