Salomon van der Kaars was a son of Emanuel Mozes van der Kaars (merchant, shammus and sjoumer) and Judith Salomons de Jong. On 13 August 1905, he married Reina Abraham Cohen in Leeuwarden. The couple had four children who survived the war.
Salomon van der Kaars died in Apeldoorn. He was buried in Leeuwarden.

We have been unable to determine whether one or more members of this family survived the war. While their names do not appear on the lists of survivors, we have not been able to trace them in In Memoriam either. They are therefore labeled as 'surviving' and their names are not listed.
