Mientje Wijler-van Essen was the widow of Abraham Levie Wijler. One of their two children perished during the war, the other survived.

The mayor of Lochem requested that Mientje Wijler-van Essen, widow of A.L. Wijler and living in Lochem, be located, detained and brought to trial. She was suspected of having changed her place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
