Marianne Polak-van Biene, daughter of Jacques van Biene and Rosette d'Oliveira, had been married to Pierre Perin before she married Polak. During the academic year 1911-1912 she attended acting school. She acted with various theatre companies under the stage name Marie van Biene for over ten years, including the Frascati Ensemble (1912-1915), the Haagsch Blijspel-ensemble (1913-1914) and the Nederlandsch Vaudeville Gezelschap (1921-1923). She also performed with Max Gabriël's operetta company (1915-1916, 1918-1919). She retired from acting after marrying Polak.
Marianne van Biene married Levie Benoit Moise Polak in 1925. The marriage was dissolved in 1937.
