Zacharias (or Jacques) van Praag was the son of Hartog Emanuel van Praag and Natje Smit. Hartog Emanuel and Natje had six children. Zacharias van Praag had an agency in leatherware from Switzerland. In 1920 he married in Amsterdam. During the war Zacharias and his wife got involved in the resistance. At least one Jewish girl found a hiding place in their home. On 8 May 1944 Zacharias van Praag was arrested.
According to the Commission for the registration of the death of missing persons of the Department of Justice, he was deported via Gross Rosen to Mauthausen where he died in the middle of February 1945.

Zacharias van Praag arrived on 5 September 1944 from Westerbork in Auschwitz. From there he arrived on 26 October 1944 in Stutthof.
