About Salomon Lootsteen

Salomon Lootsteen was a son of Isaac Lootsteen and Rebecca Ossendrijver. He was born in a family with seven children, of whom one sister has survived the war. The other siblings, Mozes, Kaatje, Clara, Benedictus and Hartog have been killed during the Holocaust.
Salomon Lootsteen married 26 June 1935 in Amsterdam to Rebekka Aardewerk, a daughter of Levie Aardewerk and Kaatje Roeg.
In Augtust 1935 their daughter was born; she survived the Holocaust.

Salomon Lootsteen joined the Hollandia-Kattenburg textile factory in Amsterdam on 17 January 1938. On Wednesday, 11 November 1942, around 4:30 PM, Willy Lages conducted the Sicherheitspolizei raid on the Hollandia factories. All exits were blocked, and the Jewish staff members were taken away that evening. Photographs of all workers taken away that evening, as well as those deported previously, appear in the 'Boek der tranen' [Book of tears].
