On behalf of the Sicherheitspolizei in Zwolle, the police commissioner requested that 44 Jews suspected of having violated German regulations by temporarily changing their place of residence without the required authorization be located, detained and brought to trial. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. Levie de Leeuw, a music dealer, was one of these 44 people in hiding from Zwolle.

Levie de Leeuw owned a trade in music instruments since 1922. He started on Melkmarkt 3 in Zwolle. The company moved to Voorstraat 8 (January 1928), Diezerstraat 81 (December 1931) and Diezerstraat 90 (September 1937). On 1 January 1940 the company was renamed to L. de Leeuw & Zoonen. The partners were Levie and his son Mozes. In accordance with § 7 VO 48/1941 (Nazi regulation to remove Jews from the trade and industry) a controller was appointed in January 1942. The company was dissolved on 31 October 1942.
