Simon Bacharach was a flower seller who worked on Rembrandtplein and Thorbeckeplein in Amsterdam. His neighbours were very fond of him. Because Simon Bacharach was married to a non-Jewish woman, he was in principle exempt from deportation. He and his wife had two children.
Simon Bacharach was reported to the police by a jealous business rival. After he was arrested, he was deported to Auschwitz as a criminal offender. His wife and his young son died of illness during the war. His other child survived the war.
