About Albert Lodewijk van Zwanenburg

Albert Lodewijk van Zwanenburg, metalware manufacturer and exporter, was a son of Salomon van Zwanenburg and Estella Jacobs. His parents passed way before the war; his mother, Estella Jacobs from Zwolle died in Rotterdam 23 August 1917 as the widow of Salomon Zwanenburg, aged 78 years and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery Toepad in Rotterdam. He had a brother Karl Emil and an unmarried sister Therese van Zwanenburg.

Albert Lodewijk was married in 1903 to Betsij Wittgensteiner, who died 31 July 1937 in Luzern (Switzerland). Their son Hans Roland, who married in 1933 in Rotterdam Sara Mathea Boedels, survived the war. Albert Lodewijk remarried 9 May 1938 in Den Haag to the widow of Ernst Frederik Bernhard Schildein, Alberdina Clasina Bakker. After their marriage, the couple lived at ‘s Gravendijkwal 18 b in Rotterdam, which was also their residence during the war. Albert Lodewijk van Zwanenburg passed away 2 November 1943 in Apeldoorn.
