Louis de Haan was a son of Aron de Haan and Schoontje Kaas. He married Femmina Kool in 1895 in Amsterdam. They had five children: a child of whom it is not known if it survived the war, Jennij (who died at a young age), Aron (who died at a young age), Jenny Henriete and Simon.

Louis de Haan was married to Femmina Kool. He served as a witness at the wedding of his son Simon de Haan to Frieda Goldberg. The marriage was performed at Westerbork transit camp on 13 September 1943. Louis de Haan signed the marriage certificate.
