Alice Sofie Baer was the daughter of Hermann Baer and Rosamund Rheinstein. Her father was an attendant of the Jewish community in Mainz. The family lived at Hindenburg Strasse 38, which was the same address as the synagogue.
Alice Baer came to the Netherlands in 1939. She probably came from Stuttgart where she had worked as a maid. In the Netherlands she first lived in Rotterdam and later moved to Gouda. Her last residence was Sarphatistraat 78 hs (during the war this street was renamed Muidenschans) in Amsterdam.
According to sources from the Stadtarchiv Mainz the mother of Alice Baer committed suicide in September 1942.
