Sophie van Spiegel was the daughter of Izaak van Spiegel and Clara Cato Hartog. Before the war she lived in Den Helder, Where she worked as a teacher. During the war she lived in Amersfoort and in Deventer. In 1943 she moved to Amsterdam.
