About Isidore Vaz Dias

Isidore Vaz Dias, a hairdresser was married to a non-Jewish woman. He and his wife had four children. The family lived in Amsterdam. Isidore Vaz Dias did resistance work for the Dutch communist party (CPN), including distribution of newspapers and leaflets.
He was caught on 1 July 1941 and held at the prison on the Weteringschans in Amsterdam. He was deported from there to Neuengamme via the camps at Schoorl and Amersfoort. His wife survived the war.

In 1937 Isidore Vaz Dias was leader of the propaganda service of the 'Internationale Rode Hulp' (International Red Aid), department 'Noord-Holland', of the CPN.
