Aron Josef Vitner was a son of Haim and Tauba Vitner. He was born in Romania. He got his master title civil engineer at the University of Bucharest. After his military service he moved to Germany, where he got married in 1906 to Deborah Spacirer. In 1908 their child was born. In June 1921 the family came to the Netherlands, where Aron Josef Vitner started working as a mechanical engineer with Gusto in Schiedam. In 1927 they received the Dutch nationality. In 1928 they moved to Haarlem and in 1931 to Leiden. Their child went to the Dutch East Indies in 1936 and survived the war.
