Daniel Hendrik de Leeuw was a son of Hendrik de Leeuw and Emillia Kan. From 1899 until 1906 he was in the military. Afterwards he was a sales representative and a textile agent. From 1906 until 1914 he lived mainly in Berlin. Afterwards he lived in Amsterdam.
