Abraham Ensel was a son of David Ensel and Hanna Fransman. He married in Amsterdam on 5 April 1905 to Maria Ensel, a daughter of Raphael Ensel and Salina Behr.
Abraham came from a family with 10 children. Three children have died before the war. Besides himself, all his other siblings, Rebecca, Andries, Christina, Heintje, Manus and Raphael have been killed during the Holocaust.

Abraham and Maria Ensel had eight children:
David Abraham, Raphaël, Salomon, Izaak, Hanna, Serlina and the two children living on this address. They had moved from Den Bosch to Rosmalen in 1931. Because they felt unsafe in Rosmalen they moved to Amsterdam in December 1940. Abraham Ensel had a demolition business. Before the war the Ensel family lived in Rosmalen at the address Rijksweg 25. At 17 November 1940 they moved to Amsterdam.
