Sophia Israels was a daughter of Mozes Israels and Vrouwgien van Esso. She grew up in a family with six children. On 12 December 1900 Sophia Israel married Lazarus Aptroot. The couple had two children. Both Helena Betje Aptroot as Maurits Aptroot died during the war. Her husband Lazarus Aptroot passed away in 1931.
