David Lopes Cardozo, diamond worker, was a son of Wolf Lopes Cardozo from Amsterdam and Kate Baruch from London. His parents resided in Antwerp, where his father worked in the diamond industry. David was married in Amsterdam on 4 May 1921 to Duifje Kosman, a daughter of the florist by trade Barend Kosman and Leentje Pachter. David and Duifje had three children together: on 14 February 1922 their daughter Kitty was born in Amstedam; son Bernard followed in Deurne (B) on 21 October 1928 and daughter Lily was born in Johannesburg (S.A.) on 11 May 1931. However this marriage ended by divorce upon verdict of the District Court in Amsterdam of 5 March 1936.
After the divorce, David Lopes Cardozo lived at Nottebohmstraat 24 in Antwerp, his last official address. On 24 October 1942 he has been deported from Mechelen to Auschwitz with Convoy XV (15), which arrive there on 26 October 1942. Presumably David Lopes Cardozo has been killed in Auschwitz one day after his arrival there.
