Levie van de Kar was a son of David van de Kar and Heintje Schraal, who both have died already before the war. Levie married 1 September 1920 in Amsterdam to Mietje Fransman, a daughter of Mozes Fransman and Eva van der Glas.
Levie was born in a family with eleven children, of whom two have died before the war. However his siblings Marianne, Salomon, Clara, Gompert, Coenraad, Grietje, Sara and Philip have been killed all during the Holocaust.
