Cornelis Albertus Pieter Engelse was the manager of the power company in Krimpen aan den IJssel. He was married to a non-Jewish woman. He thought it would be better not to register as a Jew in 1941. A townsman then has betrayed him. Cornelis Engelse was sentenced to three months imprisonment in the 'Oranjehotel’ in Scheveningen. After that period his wife was informed that he would have succumbed to pneumonia. In fact, Cornelis Engelse was sent to Mauthausen where he died at the end of October 1942.
