Elisabeth Kuijt was a daughter of Abraham Meijer Kuijt and Vokkie Mello. She married Leopold Hertzberger in 1896 in Sneek. He died in 1933. They had four children. One of them was married to Klara Spanjer.

In June 1940, two obituaries were placed in the Nieuw Israëlietisch Weekblad for Elisabeth Herzberger-Kuijt. She was the widow of Dr L. Hertzberger. She was 61 years old when she died.
