Hartog Blom was a son of Salomon Blom and Hendrika Kosman, who had a family with ten children: Hartog himself, Barend, Elisabeth, Duifje, Nathan, Rachel, Samuel, Israel, Machiel and Greta, who survived the Holocaust.
Hartog married in Amsterdam on 28 March 1923 to Mina Barend, daughter of Mozes Barend and Marianna van Praag.
