Arnold Arian was part of a group of Jewish youths that resisted the Nazi violence in the Jewish neighbourhood. In the ensuing skirmishes with WA members, WA member Koot sustained fatal injuries. The Nazi police arrested twenty young men, including Arnold Arian, on suspicion of involvement in the fight on 9 February 1941. Most were severely beaten and released, including Arnold Arian. A year later, in January 1942, Arnold Arian was arrested again.
