Machiel Blom was a son of Salomon Blom and Hendrika Kosman, who had a family with ten children: Machiel himself, Hartog, Elisabeth, Duifje, Nathan, Rachel, Samuel, Barend, Israel and Greta, who survived the Holocaust.
Machiel married in Amsterdam on 22 May 1907 in Amsterdam to Roosje Goedel, daughter of Simon Goedel and Schoontje Presser.
