Karel van Gelder and Berni Winter were married at Westerbork transit camp on 7 October 1942.
Karel van Gelder,warehouse clerk by profession, was a son of musician Aron van Gelder and of Rosalie Stofkooper. Berni Winter was a daughter of cigar maker Max Winter and of Hedwig Kratzenstein. The father of the bride attended the wedding ceremony; he signed the marriage certificate. Hermann Kratzenstein, an uncle of the bride, attended as a witness and signed the marriage certificate.
