Alfred Levy was the son of an architect in Berlin. He came to Amsterdam at the age of seventeen. On 2 September 1942 he married Sonja Agsteribbe in Amsterdam. Presumably he was educated to be a social worker, just like his wife. He was blind. After his marriage he lived with his wife on the Eendrachtstraat 27 hs in Amsterdam.
