Hartog Frank was a son of Raphael Frank and Sara van de Kar, a family with 7 children: Hartog himself, Marianne, Aron, Henderika, Eva, Mietje and Naatje.
Hartog married Clara de Leon, a daughter of Jacob de Leon and Raatje Stodel, in Amsterdam on 2 August 1917. The couple had two children: Raphael and Rachel, who both have survived the Holocaust.
