From 1910, Jacob da Silva Rosa was assistant to David de Raphael Montezinos, founding librarian of Ets Haim, the library of the Portuguese-Jewish Community in Amsterdam. After the death of Montezinos in 1916, he became the librarian of Ets Haim.
Jacob da Silva Rosa was editor, then chief editor of the Jewish weekly 'De Vrijdagavond'.
