About Gustav Hirsch

Gustav Hirsch, a former front soldier, was  a son of Suszman Hirsch and Sara Kaufman. He was born in Frankenwinheim, Bavaria (Germany) and resided in Schweinfurt. He was married in Gouda on 12 August 1942 to Claris Weil from Offenburg (Baden, Germany), and who lived at Offenberg (Bavaria), a daughter of Mozes Weil and Rebekka Weil.

Gustav Hirsch and his wife came on 11 March 1938  to the Netherlands and lived at Hoogstraat 1 in Gouda. On 26 September 1942 Gustav and Claris were deported from Gouda to Westerbork; on 28 September 1942 they were both deported to Auschwitz, where they have been killed upon arrival there on 1 October 1942.

Gustav Hirsch had two other brothers: his brother Salomon and his French wife survived the Holocaust in Gouda where he passed away in 1954. His French born wife then left Gouda and returned to France. His brother Hans Werner as also his wife Gerda Liselotte Reiss have been killed in the Shoah too. Hans Werner was killed on 31 January 1943 in Auschwitz but his wife Gerda Liselotte already there on 1 October 1942.
