Samuel Cohen was a son of Joseph Cohen and Catharina Hamme. Until the bombardment of Middelburg on 17 May 1940 he lived in the Gortstraat 37. After the destruction of his house he lived on Jodengang 50, an unsightly little storage depot. From 30 May 1941 he lived on the Koepoortstraat 15 and from 20 March 1942 on Seisdam 32 in Middelburg. Fromf 10 June 1942 he lived in Amsterdam, on the Plantage Franschelaan 11 hg.
